Creating a Cultural Doll
If you ask a child to research about the
national costumes of his heritage,
he would groan,
moan,
and roll his eyes.
He would call it boring.
But if you ask a child to dress a paper doll with fabric or colourful paper,
he would clap his hands
or do a cartwheel to express his
glee.
So that’s what I did.
Little does he know, he is doing a lot of research to learn how to dress a cultural doll. Shhh.
Since a child may have ancestors from two different countries, he may dress the doll on both sides.
One child’s heritage is from Denmark and the Philippines.
